BPI Building Science Principles and Building Analyst - Technician Combo Course

This is a combo class. We will be offering the BPI BSP certificate training and testing on Monday and Tuesday. A passing score on the online written exam is required to take the BA-t exam. The Building Analyst technician class will start Tuesday afternoon and run through Thursday with individual field exams scheduled on Friday. You will need to bring a laptop of wifi enabled Ipad for the written exam testing.

Building Performance Strategies BPI Building Science Principles (BSP) course aligns with the professional standards of excellence set forth by the Building Performance Institute (BPI).

This is a BPI pre-requisite course for the new Building Analyst - Technician Certification.

This BPI training will provide individuals with the knowledge, skills, and preparation needed to excel in the home energy performance industry.

Earning the Building Science Principles (BSP) Certificate of Knowledge is your first step into the world of energy efficient home performance. You will learn some of the widely-used industry terminology related to building science. Building science demonstrates how various components of a home interact to affect the home’s overall performance. Understanding the relationships between the building envelope, heating, A/C, insulation, mechanical ventilation, lighting, appliances and other systems of the home will enable you to assist yourself and others. Learn how these systems affect the comfort, health and safety of occupants and durability of the home. Discover why improving the energy efficiency of the home should be the first step toward solar, geothermal, or other renewable energy improvements.

This 2-day BPI Building Science Principles course is a training course to obtain the knowledge about "the house is a system". Obtaining the certificate of knowledge requires a passing grade on BPI's written examination.

The 3-day BPI Building Analyst Technician (BA-T) certification is an early-career credential for workers in the home performance industry. This certification gives a great entrance to the industry while providing a clear path for professional growth.

A BA-T's work includes data collection and diagnostic testing for a whole-home assessments. The BA-T's skills and knowledge include: buildings & their systems, testing & data collection, and industry standards.

The BA-T is earned by passing a field test with oral questions.

When: Training will begin promptly on Monday at 8:30am. There is a lot of material to cover so plan on being there each day until 4:00pm. The instructor will go over the agenda with you on Monday morning.

Exams: The online (written) exam for the Building Science Principles Certificate will be offered after the class has ended on Tuesday. The online exam is an open book exam.

What to Bring: You must bring a laptop or wifi enabled Ipad for the written exam testing. We will provide all testing equipment and course materials).

Your chances of passing this exam is greatly improved by studying each night during the training.

Please be on time! Again, passing this course may take additional study time after class hours.

Customer Cancellations

1. Any registration cancelled in writing at least 25 business days before the class begins receives a refund minus the processing fees $125.00.

2. Cancellations received between 15 and 25 business days before class begins will receive a refund, minus 20% of the registration fee which is $420.00.

3. No refunds will be made for cancellations less than 15 business days before class begins, or for those who fail to attend the course.

NOTE: THERE HAS TO BE A MINIMUM OF 8 STUDENTS FOR THE CLASS TO TAKE PLACE. iF WE DON'T REACH THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF STUDENTS THEN THE TRAINING DATE WILL BE PUSHED BACK TO ANOTHER DATE WHEN THE MINIMUM NUMBER HAS BEEN REACHED.  PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS IF YOU ARE UNSURE BEFORE REGISTERING.
